Komen Race for the Cure
It was a beautiful, crisp fall morning in September and it could not have been a more perfect morning to run/walk in memory and honor of breast cancer.
The Komen Race for the Cure is held in downtown Amarillo every September. I lost my Mother to breast cancer in 2008 so it’s always a special and emotional time when I attend the event. I LOVE that the station and its staff are so passionate about this event is well; it was nice to spend some time outside the station with my TV station family. I have linked the Komen West Texas website here if you would like to know more about what they do and who they benefit.
WHO doesn’t LOVE dogs! We even Bark’d for the Cure, these guys are SUPER cute, RIGHT?
Several of the participants really get into dressing up and I think that just goes to show you how dedicated and FUN our community really is! #myamarillo
This year, the Komen Race for the Cure started a new Volunteer of the Year award. This inaugural year’s award was presented to Marcy McKay for her 25-years of volunteer service to the Komen Race for the Cure in Amarillo. This will be an annual award presented to a Komen volunteer! WAY to GO Komen!
It was a great morning to show support and love on our community.
Love,
Olive and Honey
